ML Community Enterprise (MLCE) work with the young people and communities of the Coldharbour Ward and surrounding areas of Lambeth.

Our team deliver targeted interventions, youth and community work in Lambeth for over 20 years and are experienced in community engagement and project delivery.

We provide targeted and co-produced therapeutic projects around crime trauma, bereavement and loss, depression and mental health, reducing offending and providing a platform for young people and communities to create new and positive identities for themselves.


You will be part of the Key Working & Employability Team that works holistically with young people and adults up to the age of 30 to improve employment readiness bringing them closer to the job market and supporting them into work.


The purpose of the role is to:

  • provide a service that engages, motivates and facilitates participants to make progress on an employment pathway, through a range of one to one sessions, therapeutic sessions, group activities, training and supportive measures.
- be responsible for a caseload of participants, providing high quality support and achieving set targets for participants' progress
- establish good partnership working with key agencies and stakeholders such as counsellors, housing, schools, training providers and other agencies where appropriate; and
- be responsible for the timely and accurate inputting of on-line records and submission of achievement evidence.


Main responsibilities

  • Work with clients to produce individual action plans that support the client to overcome barriers to employment, including (but not limited to) housing, substance misuse, relationships, training, finance debt and benefit. Ensure that information supplied by referral partners is utilised to develop plans that fit with other interventions such as, sentence, therapy and Risk Management Plans and ensure risk is managed.
  • Deliver a range of planned assessments and interventions that keeps the client engaged, motivated, and making progress.
  • Deliver targeted group work, workshops and courses to small groups of participants
  • Liaise constructively with referral partners to share updates.
  • Work in accordance with MLCE protocols and polices relating to risk management.
  • Where clients are assessed to need mental health support, complete referrals to MLCE's Therapeutic Service.
  • Utilise a range of specialist support services such as housing, debt and substance misuse services and support client to access them.
  • Identify and establish progression routes into further learning, work placement and employment opportunities and support client to access them.
  • Take responsibility for a caseload of participants, providing effective case management.
  • Achieve outcome targets for progressing participants on their journey following the route ways specified by MLCE.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of all client interventions on the VIEWS system, to provide an audit trail of interventions and complete data capture forms as required. Obtain evidence of achieved outcomes according to programme requirements.
  • Work flexibly, covering absences for colleagues, supporting the team leader and demonstrating good teamwork.
  • Work constructively with project partners and other stakeholders to address any problems and represent the project/MLCE externally.
  • Attend and contribute to MLCE meetings when required.
  • Actively assist in the implementation of MLCE's policies and procedures.

Experience:


  • Experience of working with socially excluded young people and adults
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully working with challenging people and supporting them to make progress towards or into employment
  • Track record of supporting exoffenders

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Advice and Guidance or equivalent, to at least Level 2 or working or willing to work towards

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of antidiscriminatory working practices, and the implications of both within the working environment.
