This is working in a fast paced and dynamic environment, servicing our client base from our manufacturing sites in the West Midlands.
Lead times in this industry are fairly short so it is important to have a strategy and knowledge to cope with this.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Liaise regularly with suppliers to ensure that the business has the most appropriate supply chain base
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best possible service, quality and pricing, based on known costs and quantities.
- Maintain and develop supplier performance in relation to lead time capability
- Carry out investigations into best practice, supplier audits, review of supplier responsible quality issues
- Work with design team on new products or transferred products to ensure all required information is available for new parts and that any required tooling / stock orders are placed to give adequate stock for product launch.
- Update MRP system with supplier details, costs, batch quantities and required safety stocks, monitor this regularly to ensure correct stock management
- Resolve major quality issues with suppliers including recovery of any relevant costs
- Write and issue any required policies to ensure Procurement meets current legislation
- Complete sections of tenders that relate to purchasing / procurement
- Advise sales on stock availability, minimum order and costs of nonstandard items
- Source products required by sales
- Manage stock holding and exploit options to utilise discontinued / slow moving stock
- Work closely with other departments to minimise delays to client orders caused by supply chain delays or quality issues
Qualifications and Skills
- MCIPS qualified
- Excellent analytical skills
- MRP experience essential
- Gain a full understanding and command over the integrated computer system and all of the areas that relate to the above role
