There is an exciting opportunity to join the recently developed East of England Children's Cancer Operational Delivery Network (EoE CC ODN) as a practice educator.

The EoE CC ODN is hosted by Cambridge University Hospital though this post will work across the region spending a limited number of days a month at CUH.

Due to the way the ODN receives funding this post is advertised as a 2-year fixed term contract.


This role will be key to the coordination and delivery of paediatric cancer education pathways across the East of England to ensure equitable access to specialist resources and expertise for all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Education will ensure staff caring for this patient group have the appropriate clinical skills and knowledge.


You will have:

experience working within acute paediatric oncology settings; experience working within outpatient services; an understanding / experience of the development and delivery of educational programmes; experience of delivering teaching virtually and face to face in clinical and / or classroom settings.

You should also have an understanding of how childhood cancer services are organised.


You will work closely with clinical staff and the education teams based at the PTC and POSCU's across the East of England as well as collaborating nationally with paediatric oncology educators.

There will be a requirement to travel to all sites within the EoE CC ODN.


The EoE CC ODN Network Practice Educator takes the lead for children's cancer care workforce development and the education of nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals, and medical clinical staff across the ODN, providing expert advice and guidance on education matters across a range of paediatric services.


The post holder will ensure that the Network is kept informed and acts upon national developments affecting education and training within children's cancer care to ensure robust practice.


The post holder will take the lead on identifying areas of clinical care that could be audited/researched, disseminating findings through publication and presentations with a view to ensuring that clinical practice remains evidence based, up to date and relates to the needs of the patients in line with the Principles and Values of the NHS Constitution, National Service Frameworks, NICE Guidance and current Professional Standards relating to children's cancer services.


The post holder will seek and maintain communication with other local and national organisations, for example, CCLG, RCN, Higher Education Institutions and Health Education England, contributing to curriculum developments in the field of children's cancer Care.


The post holder will work closely with the teams delivering children's cancer care in each Trust, to devise and implement the Network's education and training objectives and programme.

They will report regularly to the Network management team.
