About The Role
Working alongside a job share college and the lead I&A officer you will provide clear, correct, and effective welfare benefits advice to older people for Age UK NSWD; you will also support the coordination of a team of volunteer workers who visit clients in the locality and ensure the charity works within the quality standards and reporting requirements of Age UK
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide a professional firstline response to requests for information and advice from older people in North, South & West Dorset including advising on entitlements, form filling, challenges, and appeals, on Attendance Allowance, PIP, Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and other entitlements.
- To coordinate a welfare benefits service providing benefits advice to older people in North, South & West Dorset
- To support a team of welfare benefits volunteers and information and advice to volunteers providing them with uptodate information, arranging training and resources to enable them to assist clients
- To provide a professional telephone response to clients contacting the charity for advice and provide telephone cover as needed
- To work with the I&A manager to ensure the service meets all quality standards and reporting requirements set by Age UK
- To input data where required for reporting using appropriate software systems
- To keep up to date with relevant laws, policies and procedures impacting on the Welfare benefits service
- To actively participate in local and national campaigns as agreed with the Information and Advice Lead. This may include contact with local media, councillors, MP's etc
- To provide reports as required to the Chief Officer and the board of trustees regarding the Welfare Benefits service.
- To understand AUK NSWD policies including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Complaints, and carry out all tasks accordingly
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested

Essential Criteria:
- Highquality administration and organisational skills
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
- Understanding the needs of older people and the benefits available to them.
- Previous Advice and Information experience.
- Willingness to take on training
- Satisfactory level of Literacy and Numeracy.
Desirable Criteria:
- Excellent MS Office and IT skills
- Ability to support and supervise volunteers
- Understanding of current data protection requirements

- A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
