Description

Who are we?

Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery.

We interact with over 160,000 patients annually, from outpatient appointments to surgery to correct cataracts and helping to manage other eye conditions.

We're passionate about providing individual care for our patients and have a vision to change lives through better sight and eye health.

Our services are delivered through a variety of models including Managed Services and primarily Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships, with each eye centre focused on providing excellent care to their communities.

We have significant growth plans as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites over the next few years.

Due to our significant growth plans, we are looking for a Divisional Governance Partner join us in the Southwest - currently services including Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter and Hampshire.

The role holder will look after a cluster of approximately 3-5 sites.

Overview of the role

Reporting into the Head of Quality and Patient Safety, the Divisional Governance Partner supports our OJV and Managed Service sites in all areas of quality governance & patient safety.

The role is home based with regular travel to the clinical sites and our office locations as and when required.

The role also currently participates in the Newmedica On-Call out of hours patient line - this will be required approximately three times a year.

So what will I be doing?**You will partner the sites in your cluster and offer your expertise and support across a variety of areas, developing solutions to help the safe delivery of care within Newmedica. You'll guide the teams on site, supporting them with action plans to embed any service improvements that may be necessary.

You'll adopt a real joined up thinking approach in all you do, ensuring any lessons learnt are shared within your cluster and with your peers.

You'll be an advocate for the improvements that can be learnt from quality governance intelligence.

You'll be competent at producing governance & compliance reports and analysing data from various IT systems, working with the clinical sites regarding the outputs and articulating areas of risk or concern to senior managers and the executive team

You'll be at the forefront when it comes to providing assurance with policy, best practice, contractual and regulatory requirements in areas of governance, undertaking reviews of policy and guidelines where required and ensuring dissemination across the business.

You'll co-ordinate serious incident investigations and responses, ensuring they are responded to within agreed timeframes and that they meet the requirements of the health care regulatory environment including but not limited to Care Quality Commission (CQC) quality standards.

In short, the role has a nice balance between practical on-site support along with time to use your experience to drive quality improvement and safety.

What experience do I need?

We are looking for someone with experience in a governance related role or from a clinical background with a professional registration if you don't have a governance background role - for example you may be a Registered Nurse, a midwife or an optometrist.

Whilst experience within the NHS is welcomed, it would be advantageous if you also had experience in an independent or private healthcare business.

You'll have a good understanding of CQC fundamental standards and the new single assessment framework approach, with experience of conducting in-service quality inspections.

Stakeholder engagement is key in this role.

You'll be partnering with a range of senior stakeholders, including the Operational and Clinical Partners at our sites, so we are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience of forging and maintaining successful working relationships with senior people.

You'll be presenting complex information and seeking engagement on a regular basis so your gravitas and influencing skills will be called upon.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for more autonomy in their working life.

We're looking for someone who can bring good ideas to Newmedica and run with them, it's a real chance to implement change and not to get bogged down by the bureaucracy that exists in larger or public sector organisations.
