We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Theatre Team Leader to join the team at North Tyneside General Hospital and Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital General Surgery Theatres.

We are looking for an experienced ODP/Nurse to lead and manage the theatre breast and plastic surgery service.

Working cross site, you will be expected to take responsibility for training core staff in micro vascular surgery and lead on all training in major breast and plastic surgery.

You will be responsible for ordering of implants, kit and repairs of instruments.


You must be dynamic, flexible and forward thinking and motivated to drive change and creative ways of working to cover trust wide service needs.


This role will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital with cross site working and very strong links to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

Night shift, weekend working and on calls will be a part of normal duties on a rolling rota.

Develops implements and evaluates programmes of care for their clinical area.

To be responsible for the provision of nursing care and maintain high clinical standards.

To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC/ HPC Code of Professional Conduct.


Take responsibility for the management of a clinical area and take charge in the absence of the Theatre Team Manager.


To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
