Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 part-time fit testers to join our Health and Safety Team.

Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting part-time Fit Testers to help coordinate and deliver our respirator / mask fit testing service to all our staff.

The Health and Safety of our staff is paramount and personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to ensure our staff can work safely.

The fit testing team is vital to ensure the Trust is compliant with legislative and National requirements in terms of FFP3 and fit testing.

This is to ensure resilience whilst the NHS responds to new demands due to changing outbreaks, guidance and prepares for any future uncertainties.

To that end, it is important that the focus on FFP3 resiliency continues and develops further.

Fit testers have duties under Health and Safety at Work legislation because, if not conducted properly, the wearer of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) could be exposed to substances hazardous to health due to facepiece leakage.

The service is provided five days a week Monday to Friday.

One post holder will be based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site and the other post holder at West Middlesex University Hospital site.

From time to time, they will be expected to travel between trust locations.

Post holders will be responsible for fit testing to ensure that respirators (either re-usable or single use) fit the face of the members of staff that needs to wear them, and also to reinforce correct donning and doffing techniques.

The successful applicant will receive instruction and training for both the qualitative and quantitative fit testing methods so previous experience is not essential, however knowledge of fit testing and its importance is a requirement of the role.

Other main duties include:

  • Responsible for maintaining high quality fit testing provision in the Trust
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy and legislation, around procedure and practice
  • Provide support, advice and education to other fit testers and staff members across the Trust
