Salary Range:
(Term Time + 2 weeks) 25,878 to 26,845 Pro Rata

***Purpose:

  • To work within our team supporting the young people in behaviour, attendance and safeguarding.
  • To build positive relationships with parents to ensure open communication and collaborative working between the academy and home to help support our young people.
  • Take a proactive role in encouraging positive behaviour and progress with our all young people and encourage them to participate in all aspects of the academy life.
  • To model the highest standards of professional conduct, supporting and driving excellence in all practice within the academy; ensuring that Cliff Park Ormiston Academy and Ormiston Academies Trust is always presented positively within and beyond the academy.
  • To support the preservation of sound procedures for security, supervision, and maintenance of the school environment, ensuring that all safeguarding/health and safety regulations are met.

Core Duties/Accountability:

To support, as required, the relevant Assistant Principal in providing strategic leadership of a community


This includes:

Supporting the Assistant Principal in the creation of a culture of high aspirations

Assisting the Assistant Principal in the creation and implementation of a Community Improvement Plan based upon academy-wide quality assurance procedures.**:


  • Assisting the Assistant Principal in leading and managing a Tutor Team, through clearly led team meetings and thoughtful delegation/deployment.**:

Assisting the Assistant Principal in the use of a range of data, particularly student achievement, attendance, punctuality and behaviour with a view to**:

Evaluating the quality and appropriateness of students' individual curriculum;**:

Identifying when intervention is necessary;**:

Making referrals, where appropriate, to outside agencies;**:

Analysing the impact of support.**: - Providing high quality mentoring support to students.

  • Making arrangements for student files (paper and SIMS) to be kept up to date and stored securely.
  • Maintaining the Academy Bullying/Racist and RJ logs etc.
  • Preparing reports and references etc.
  • Assisting the Assistant Principal with executing wellplanned assemblies, Form Time programmes etc.
  • Developing effective partnerships with relevant outside agencies and organisations.
  • Supporting the Assistant Principal by creating and maintaining effective links with parents based upon an ethos of partnership working.
  • Supporting the Assistant Principal by ensuring sound financial management within the budgets that have been set e.g. Rewards and Hardship Fund etc.
  • Providing daytoday student support, such as upholding the academy uniform policy and provision of timetables etc.
  • Ensuring that all students take advantage of the opportunities made available to them, particularly the most vulnerable.
  • Supporting the Assistant Principal with transition work.
  • Assisting the Assistant Principal with the development of student leadership.
  • Helping to maintain outstanding behaviour around the academy at all times by upholding the academy behaviour policy, undertaking daily duties and providing pastoral support for staff and students, as required.

Performance Management:

The post holder will participate in the academy's arrangements for performance management.


Notes:


  • All staff are part of a wider academy team. Each individual, therefore, is required to support the values/ethos of the academy and the academy priorities as defined in the Academy Improvement Plan. This will mean being responsive to the needs of colleagues, parents and students and being flexible in a demanding environment. On occasions the post holder may be expected to carry out additional tasks, as requested by the Principal and Chair of Governors, which are not specifically specified in this job description.
  • Due to the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of Criminal Record Disclosure to be undertaken. It is essential that post holders disclose whether they have any pending charges, convictions, bindovers or cautions and if so, for which offences. Any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the academy.
