Service Team Leader - heavy goods industry


My client, a leader within the heavy goods vehicle service and maintenance industry, is recruiting a suitably experienced Service Team Leader, to work within an established team and manage 10 mobile service engineers.

Due to increased workload, this positionis to manage one of their main customers' business needs, and to ensure that engineers are scheduled, arrive on time, and ensure all paperwork is completed on time.

The role of the Service Team Leader is very fast-paced and requires someone with excellenttime management skills, who has experience within the motor industry ideally, and who can respond quickly to time critical business needs.


Service Team Leader Role & responsibilities:

  • To co-ordinate/delegate and manage 10 technician's workload around the Yorkshire region
  • Raise and complete the technician's paperwork for processing
  • Maintain and chase service logs to ensure all services are completed on time
  • Update customers on a regular basis with progress updates and ensure costs are updated throughout
  • Ownership of the KPIs for the depot as laid down and agreed by the business and ensure that corrective actions are in place to address adverse issues
  • To ensure that all technicians are efficient and productive in line with agreed budgetary levels
  • To maintain effective communications with customers, ensuring that work completion times are realistic, achievable and are communicated appropriately
  • To maintain a professional attitude, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
  • To act in a manner which is efficient, orderly and timely, ensuring all tasks are achieved within the set timescales


The ideal applicant for the Service Team Leader will be from the motor industry and have experience managing a team of engineers or technicians.

All applicants must have a sound knowledge of MS Office, have the ability to work in a fast-paced demanding industry,and can comfortably get to the office on a daily basis.


The Service Team Leader offers the following:

  • Salary up to £26,000

This position is working Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, with an hour for lunch, based on the outskirts of Rotherham.
