SPECIALIST SUPPORT WORKER

Specialist Support Worker
REPORTS TO:
Senior Specialist Support Worker & team leader, operation manager
HOURS:
Approximately 40 hours per week - Evening and weekend work, sleep-ins, waking nights and bank holidays. Flexibility is required due to the nature of the job.

OBJECTIVES:

Responsibilities of the Post:
- To work within any relevant legislative guidelines as communicated to you by your supervisor, the Employee Handbook or any training you attend.
- Adhere to, uphold and exemplify the Group's core values.
- Admit new residents and compile and complete all relevant admission documents.
- Compile and complete all relevant discharge documents.
- Provide support and guidance to residents.
- Help residents find their own solutions to the problems associated with young people in need.
- To provide key working to individuals as part of their support plan.
- To provide support and information about benefits, services, and housing options to residents and liaise with other agencies providing services for the client group.
- Referring or signposting residents in finding the required support from other agencies.
- To encourage resident participation in the running of the Unit.
- To ensure licence agreements and house rules are adhered to and maintain harmony within the Unit between it and its neighbours within the community.
General
- To assist with relief cover at the Unit.
- To assist with relief cover for other projects, as required by the manager.
- If required to undertake sleepovers which form part of the rota of the Unit/and or other projects.
- This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties; you are expected to carry out other activities that are within the scope of the role.
Administration
In line with procedures
- Attend all supervision sessions with the manager and discuss all aspects of the service users and scheme issues.
- Maintain and update all administrative records relating to the Unit e.g. log book, complaints, incident book etc, including service user's files.
- Maintain formal records, for instance, the fire log book and undertake fire safety drills.
- Produce monitoring and performance information as required by the manager to assist in the completion of monitoring returns e.g. Supporting People's workbooks and internal monitoring records.
- Assist in the collation of service users' satisfaction information.
- Report all repairs immediately and follow up to ensure they are completed.
- Ensure the Unit is kept clean and safe and also ensure service users undertake their responsibilities to keep the Unit clean and safe.
- Assist in monitoring inventories of equipment and furnishings.
Training
To participate in staff meetings and undertake training as required.
