About the Job

The Churn Project are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated Ageing Well (AW) Service Coordinator to lead our small team, supporting older people in Cirencester and the surrounding villages.

The role will suit someone who has previous experience of facilitating and developing groups with a solid understanding of group dynamics, alongside knowledge or experience of supporting older people who may be vulnerable or isolated.

You will need experience of working with people living with dementia, or carers, or those who are recently bereaved.

The Churn Project is an independent charity working for the past 22 years in Cirencester and the surrounding villages.

In 2021/22, we supported over 1300 people to reduce isolation and loneliness, improve wellbeing, learn new skills, and feel part of their community.

Our vision is that all people should be included, involved and invested in their community, feel supported and valued and given the opportunity to achieve their potential.

The Service Coordinator will lead a small team to deliver our Ageing Well Services, including our award-winning Friendship Café, walking groups, Memory Café and a bereavement group.

The team support older people who are lonely, isolated, or going through changes in life such as bereavement or health issues, using a strengths-based approach to ensure people feel valued, connected, and included.

You will establish, support and lead groups and activities for older people to reduce loneliness and isolation, and help people to engage with their communities.

You will facilitate additional support through peers, education, and advice.

You will oversee the AW Engagement Worker and the AW Project Assistant, working with them to evaluate the service and look for opportunities for growth.

You should thrive in a collaborative working environment and be able to engage with older people, partner agencies and others to ensure we continue to meet the needs of older people in our community.
