Description

Events & Programme Organiser (F/T and Permanent)
Up to £27,500pa plus annual leave and benefits

The Gregynog Trust was founded in 2019 as a charity dedicated to the arts, education, nature and wellbeing.

As we move into the next phase of development, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced person to join our team.

Gregynog Hall is a historic house, Grade II listed, with Grade I listed gardens situated in the heart of rural mid-Wales and the county of Powys. One of Wales' premier country estates, Gregynog is most well known as the former home of art collectors and public benefactors Gwendoline and Margaret Davies. Set in a 750-acre estate, including agricultural land, woodland and National Nature Reserve and Site of special Scientific Interest (SSSI), it offers a welcoming setting in which people of all ages and abilities can discover, experience and be inspired by the arts and natural environment.

We are a small, friendly, and dedicated team of professionals who are fortunate to work in one of Wales' most significant cultural locations.

This is a dynamic work environment, and we share a sense of purpose in taking an important piece of Welsh heritage into an exciting future.

We are currently re-branding, and a key aspect of this newly created post will be to ensure that our events offer reinforces this step-change in the historic life of the Hall and the Estate.

There are many exciting opportunities for the right person who can inject enthusiasm and positive bottom-line contribution to our cause.

Primary aspects of the role

The role will both develop, deliver and supervise our in-house events programme and foster existing and new partnerships with individuals, groups, and organisations to enhance visitor experience.

You will work closely with the Head of Operations and collaboratively with departmental heads.

You will be creative and business aware to ensure the appeal and sustainability of our events offer.

The range of Gregynog assets including our outstanding landscape setting, gardens, collections and libraries, historic Museum Room, and significant residential and conference facilities, provides the bedrock for a diverse range of possibilities.

The role will build on the unique history and ambience of Gregynog and requires proven experience of public engagement as well as creating new audiences and community connections.

You will develop events to grow our networks both within and beyond Wales. Projects and experiences will need to be diverse in scope and content.

This role will involve some working out of office hours, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.

Main duties

  • To play a major part in the planning and development of a dynamic annual programme of activities and events.
  • Liaising across internal operations teams including finance, marketing, facilities and estates management, catering and bookings, to ensure the timely delivery of events
  • Ensuring that information is shared, and project teams developed to deliver high quality events
  • Delivering excellent customer service, leading on both client, partner and supplier relationships from start to finish
  • Effective management of budgets and contractors
  • To liaise with creative practitioners and related bodies to develop programme content and profile
  • To develop partnerships to pursue mutually beneficial activities aligned with the Trust's cultural, educational and hospitality objectives
  • Grow our engagement with local schools, community groups, informal learners and volunteers.
  • Coordinate projects from start to finish, prepare event spaces, secure supplier compliance and identify insurance needs
  • Produce reports for line managers and the Board

Person Specification

As someone ready to take on new challenges, you will be energetic and enthusiastic, able to think creatively to generate activities which foster team working to the benefit of visitor experience.

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, be IT literate and familiar with the preparation and monitoring of budgets.

Proven experience of initiating and delivering cultural and/or hospitality events is central to the role.

Above all, you will need to think ambitiously and broadly given the creative potential of Gregynog and its fascinating histories.

Finding contemporary relevance will be vital to making our cultural past vital to the needs of a range of audiences.

An ability to speak Welsh is desirable but is not essential. Experience of a cultural or heritage setting may be advantageous.

The post-holder will be expected to be agile and flexible in the performance of their duties as the Trust may from time to time require post-holders to perform other duties, outside their usual ones.

All Gregynog Trust employees will:
