Description

To work as a member of the clinical service/ team, providing a high quality, specialist family & systemic psychotherapy service to children and young people, and their families/networks of care.

To support systemic practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training and by participating in clinical governance.

To work with complex presentations suitable for family & systemic psychotherapy, utilising a high level of knowledge and experience and adapting approaches as appropriate, with regard to evidence-based practice.

To offer clinical supervision to family & systemic psychotherapists, systemic practitioners and systemic trainees. To utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.


You will be joining a service of highly skilled and experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Psychiatry, Paediatrician, Clinical Psychology and Assistant Psychologists, Nurses, Support Workers, Dietitian, and Social Workers with support from an outstanding admin team.

SFEDS covers all of Sussex, operating as a hub and spoke model with Crawley Down as the main team hub.


To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist psychological therapy service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.


To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.

To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.

To clinically supervise psychological therapists, trainee psychological therapists psychological practitioners and other staff as appropriate.

To professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage, graduate psychologists and trainee Practitioner psychologists, Practitioner psychologists and psychological therapists.


To provide consultation, mentorship, supervision and advice about psychological issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users, across a range of agencies/ settings as appropriate.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.

To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and services.

To be a successful Family and Systemic Psychotherapist in our team you will be:

  • Registered with UKCP
  • Skilled in specialised systemic assessment, and comfortable in providing highly specialised therapy for patients with an eating disorder and their families
  • Able to provide specialist advice and consultation to CAMHS colleagues, external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines
  • Able to support systemic and family practice within the service, providing effective leadership and management as well as staff supervision, consultation and training

MAIN DUTIES

  • To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trust's objectives and priorities.
  • To undertake and/or participate in relevant clinical research, service evaluation and audit.
  • To provide clinical supervision to eating disorder therapists, the duty team and/or the home intervention team in ways which fit with the individual's stage of professional development and are in accordance with Trust Clinical Governance standards and standards prescribed by AFT and UKCP.
