Acorn Safety Services is a successful Health, Safety and CDM consultancy. We service all business sectors specialising with construction.

Our services include health and safety consultancy services, CDM consultancy, construction site safety inspections, fire risk assessments and training.

The
Health & Safety Consultant (Construction) role fits into the operations department of our Northampton office.

Our offices are located in Northampton at, 32 Chartergate, Quarry Park Close, Moulton Park, Northampton, NN3 6QB.

The Role


We are seeking a Junior/Assistant Health and Safety Consultant with some site and commercial experience who is looking to take the next step in their career.

The position is national, and you must be willing to travel with occasional nights away from home.


For this role you must have a minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate.

Membership of institutions such as APS, IOSH and IIRSM is desirable.

Main Duties


As a junior member of the team, you will initially be shadowing our senior consultants to understand more clearly what is expected of you.


  • To provide all clients with the most up to date and accurate advice on a range of Health & Safety topics including the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 201
  • To carry out audits of clients Health & Safety procedures and management systems.
  • Compiling of formal policies and procedures for distribution to clients.
  • Assistance with the preparation of Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Method Statements and any other Health & Safety Assessment required by the client
  • Carrying out accident investigations when required.
  • Act as CDM Client Consultant
  • Act as Principal Designer Consultant to clients/designers
  • Act as Principal Contractor on Projects

Additional Duties

  • Provide the client with any additional information / assistance / documentation that is requested.
  • Carry out individual construction site audits if required and produce a site audit report.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request made by the company and / or clients with regard to Health & Safety activities

Main Responsibilities

  • Your main responsibilities are to continually ensure all Health & Safety documentation is fully compliant with current legislation and to ensure you provide the highest level of support for your clients.
  • You are responsible for the completion and return of your work to clients within a reasonable timescale
  • To portray a professional image at all times throughout the course of your duties
