Job Specification


To provide supervision for the Finishing Department and conduct the affairs of the department responsibly, reporting into the Shift Factory Manager.

To schedule and progress work through the Finishing Department according to the required timescales.


Duties

To ensure operators and assistants commence and terminate work at the expected times, ensuring all procedures are understood and are being followed.

  • To allocate work and provide any technical support, advice or assistance where required.
  • To assist with the training of operators and assistants, assessing their competence and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain a cooperative and productive working relationship with all members of the Finishing Team.
  • Stock Management, ensuring the company maintain the correct stock levels and request stock orders when materials are low.
  • Ensure optimum efficiency of the finishing equipment using OEE and relevant targets.
  • To ensure all documentation is filled out correctly (e.g. Near Miss reporting and Quality Inspection Sheets).
  • To ensure correct procedures are followed in relation to Shop Floor Data Capture and associated timesheets.
  • Establish and maintain best working practices, ensuring that quality and environmental standards are adhered to, and the quality of work produced by the Finishing Department is maintained.
  • To assist the Health and Safety Team in their duties and observe company Health and Safety policies.
  • Be knowledgeable with regard to all Elanders policies and procedures relating to the Finishing Department.
  • Support the Shift Factory Manager with the development and management of Finishing KPI's.
  • Recommend investment and support the investigation of new industry equipment and monitor industry developments, while organising the maintenance and repairs of current equipment.
  • To coach and develop staff; and manage conflict.
  • To support Shift Factory Managers to monitor holidays and absence levels within the team to ensure production is fully supported.
  • To operate machinery to produce work.
  • To assist the Shift Factory Managers in conducting appraisals to the specified timetable.
  • Support the Shift Factory Managers in the creation and management of Skills Matrices creation and management.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by the Shift Factory Managers or Operations Manager.

Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience of working within a supervising role would be desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the print industry and a technical knowledge of finishing processes.
  • Be able to demonstrate:

Job Types:

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
