The RCP is a patient-centred and clinically led organisation whose core mission is to improve patient care and reduce illness.

Our vision is for everyone to have the best possible health and healthcare.

The Care Quality Improvement Department supports the RCPs strategic aim to improve care for patients.

It utilises a variety of methods and approaches to drive improvements in activities, influences the quality of clinical practice via ambitious work programmes that are delivered via constituent teams.

The NED collects procedural data from endoscopy services in the UK. NED data can presently be accessed by endoscopists (own data) and service leads (service level data).

NED is a Joint Advisory Endoscopy Group (JAG) project developed to support, facilitate, and enable quality improvement, quality assurance and research in endoscopy through the collection and utilisation of procedural data.

The NED started collecting data in 2016, and now collects real-time clinical data from the endoscopy reporting systems of approximately 90% of all UK endoscopy services.

The NED operates within the governance of the JAG programme, with management by an RCP team and oversight by a clinical steering group.

The NED is owned by the RCP and is the only organisation which collects this level of endoscopy data.

You will represent NED in external meetings and act as a key point of contact on behalf of JAG for relevant stakeholders such as medical colleges, societies, professional and regulatory bodies and endoscopy reporting system suppliers.

Responsibility for the day-to-day management of JAG and its programmes including NED, lies with the JAG team based at the Royal College of Physicians.
