Part-Time Medical Administrative Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION
This post will be supporting the general practitioners, nursing and administrative staff in a small medical practice in Lostwithiel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical correspondence and read coding. (Retrieving and filing, both manually and electronically)
- Summarising medical notes
- Typing referral letters from digital dictation
- Minutetaking of meetings
- Electronic Referral Service (eRS) administration
- Accurate recordkeeping
- Copying medical records
- General queries of any nature
SCOPE:
The practice requires an administration assistant to support the practice team mainly and provide administration support to the Practice Managers.
Excellent organisational, technical and communication skills are essential.
The administration assistant will be required to demonstrate a sensitive approach to their work and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, general public and representatives from other hospitals and organisations.
The post-holder should have experience of working in an administration role within a GPPractice.
The administration assistant will also, following suitable induction, be familiar with general office duties and may from time-to-time during periods of absence, annual leave or sick leave be required to help with reception work.
The hours required are 15hrs per week, Mon am - 8.30am to 1.30pm, Wed 1.30pm - 6.30pm and Thurs am 9.30am to 2.30pm and the start and finishing times can have a certain degree of flexibility.
Personal Specifications for Admin Assistant
Essential:
Experience of working in a GP Practice or medical setting in an administration role.
A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft/Excel.
Previous experience of Audio-Typing.
Previous experience working with referrals via eRS.
Previous experience working with an electronic patient record system.
The ability to communicate with GP's, consultants and a range of professionals allied to medicine.
A pleasant manner and the ability to communicate with colleagues within a small working environment.
The ability to record messages accurately.
A calm disposition when dealing with frustrated members of the public/patients.
Flexibility to be able to cover annual leave/sickness.
Desirable
AMSPAR
Knowledge of working in EMIS
Knowledge of Klinik/Docman
Knowledge of Registrations/Deductions
Knowledge of Prescription Administration
