HYBRID WORKING:
One day per week in office + more flexibility when projects are in prototype stage





SALARY:
£37,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience and profile.

Reed Engineering have partnered with a market leader in intelligent electronic key and equipment protection management, who are looking for an Embedded Systems Developer to work within the Hardware Development Team


What you would do as our Embedded Systems Developer


The role will involve all aspects of the electronic product development life cycle from initial concept through to production, covering design, PCB layout and firmware development, as well as other supporting tasks such as creating test fixtures and documentation.


You would also:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new electronic products from initial development stage through to handover to manufacturing
  • Participate in the development and implementation of embedded firmware written in C
  • Understand, develop, maintain and support existing product firmware and hardware
  • Build and test prototypes
  • Provide support and documentation for hardware developments such as schematics, BOMs and test procedures
  • Document your research and development for others to understand and learn from
  • Provide high level technical support to the rest of the business where required

The skills and experience you need

  • Has worked for at least 3 years in electronic product development roles
  • Has a keen interest in electronics and firmware (embedded C)
  • Has a desire to continually improve and learn
  • Works well within multidisciplinary R&D team as well as on individual projects
  • Has a close attention to detail
  • Is willing to help and support others
  • Has a strong ability to analyse and understand technical problems

Ideally, you would also have:


  • Relevant qualifications in Electronics or equivalent discipline
  • Experience developing electronic products from the ground up through to production
  • Electronics design skills (across microcontrollers, analogue, digital and power supplies)
  • Experience with full PCB design process covering libraries, schematic, PCB layout and manufacturing file generation
  • Experience with firmware design and debugging (embedded C)
  • Experience with performing electronic testing and using common test equipment (oscilloscopes, bench PSU, multimeters etc.)
  • Good handson prototyping skills soldering, wiring, mechanical
  • Working knowledge of various communication interfaces such as CAN, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet etc.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Strong documentation and writing skills
  • Experience selecting & sourcing electronic components
