The post will require some travel and will be based on the college's Redditch campus. Opportunities for remote working will be available.


The Innovation Practitioner - Research Associate will be responsible for leading business engagement, and field and desk-based research functions for the Innovate UK AI project in which the college is participating with other stakeholders in the West Midlands area.

It will collect and provide business intelligence from a range of businesses in Worcestershire and neighbouring areas related to intended, actual and potential use of AI tools, processes, and software within their businesses.

The post will provide information and feedback to the project lead ensuring that the college can respond efficiently and effectively in producing course and awareness materials, achieving the outputs and outcomes of the project.


The postholder will ensure that the project lead is able to recognise, anticipate and meet the project's internal and external obligations and deadlines, strongly managing the college's priorities for the project, monitoring ongoing tasks and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to the college and wider community.


To ensure timely and accurate information, feedback, statistical analysis and reporting is provided to the project lead, internal and external stakeholders to inform decision making and support accountability.


KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • To identify and engage with a range of businesses
  • SMEs and larger within Worcestershire to assess their planned, actual and potential use of AI tools, processes and software.
  • To identify with those businesses what barriers and challenges they faced/face regarding the planned, actual and potential use of AI tools, processes and software.
  • To identify with those businesses what information, resources and training they required/would require to implement the planned, actual and potential use of AI tools, processes and software.
  • Following engagement with those businesses, ensure the provision of regular, consistent and insightful high quality data qualitative and quantitative regarding the planned, actual and potential use of AI tools, processes and software is provided to the project lead in an efficient, effective and agreed way.
  • To assist in the promotion, marketing, enrolment and sales of the materials produced by the project.
  • To assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of information and dissemination events to college staff, businesses and other stakeholders as required.
  • To maintain an uptodate knowledge of the use of AI tools, processes and software used in business.
  • Contribute to the provision of a dynamic, supportive and innovative environment that encourages positive commitment to the college from within and without, and the achievement of high standards of performance.
  • Input into the strategic and operational priorities of the project and wider college, including inputting into policy and practice development and present recommendations to the project lead and others as appropriate.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of developments within the area of remit and best practice.
- assist in the management of budgets effectively and ensure the best and most appropriate use of public funds.

  • Provide professional advice to the project lead and others a appropriate relating to areas of expertise and responsibility.
  • Report to senior leaders and the corporation board as requested from time to time.
  • Establish and maintain effective and productive relationships with relevant businesses and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish positive relationships with college and project colleagues to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • To promote the college mission, vision, ways of working and strategic themes and be personally committed to the college's ethos and approach.
  • Participate in staff reviews and development in line with college needs.
  • Agree objectives with the Project lead and ensure they are achieved.

  • Work flexibly within own range of competence, undertaking the appropriate training and development to extend skills and abilities to meet the needs of the college.
  • Be thoroughly aware of the college health and safety policies and procedures and ensure that employees/learners within your remit are fully aware of them. Seek to ensure appropriate implementation of such policies across all areas of responsibility.
  • Adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018 and be thoroughly aware of the college Data Protection Policy and Procedure and ensure that employees within your responsibility implement such policies. Meet the requirements of GDPR.
