We are looking for a Facilities Management Officer to work in the Facilities Management (FM) team providing facility services to staff and visitors including The Council's main Civic Offices and 19 Bennet Road and other buildings.

About the role


You will work mainly from the Civic Offices in the heart of Reading town centre and will be working primarily within the security team.

This role would be ideally suited to someone with security experience who would like to broaden their skill base into something different.

This is an exciting and varied role.


Your main duties will include:

  • To be responsible for the security of the building and its users; to lock up and unlock the building and have an understanding of the alarm systems in use.
  • To manage access control in the building by providing passes / keys / codes to users as appropriate.
  • Receiving visitors to the site including members of the public as part of a reception facility and issue appropriate visitor identification.
  • Unloading, recording and distribution of goods delivered to site.
  • To provide First aid to all users of the site both RBC staff and public.
  • To manage all room bookings on the site including customer management; room set up's; equipment provision (including A/V); catering provision and leaving clean and tidy.

About you

  • Experience of working with the public
  • Security experience in a customer facing role
  • You will have basic DIY knowledge and skills
  • An appreciation of the importance of Health & Safety and statutory compliance tasks
  • Experience of undertaking repairs and maintenance work.
  • Ability to be flexible and work to a shift system relevant to the sites
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends both within contract and as overtime
  • Ability to undertake manual work
  • Commitment to further training as required
