Microsoft Research, Health Futures (UK), is looking for an innovative, collaborative research intern at the intersection of multi-modal deep learning and healthcare.
You can be part of a multi-disciplinary team that values diversity and collaboration, composed of researchers, software developers, user researchers and clinicians.
The research will involve cloud-scale deep learning and advancing state-of-the-art visual-language deep/generative modeling techniques to help clinicians achieve more and improve existing healthcare workflows.
This role offers a unique opportunity for novel research in deep learning and to work on healthcare technology with the potential to impact millions of people around the world.

- Conduct innovative deep learning research alongside a team of experts in machine learning, software development, user research, and clinical practice.
- Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning solutions which take into account clinical factors and responsible AI.
- Share research findings with research and product teams.
- Contribute to an evolving team with a growth mindset, creating clarity and influencing the team strategy.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a related area, for example computer science, deep learning/machine learning, applied mathematics/statistics, physics, computational medicine.
- Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager's Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning, deep learning, multimodal data processing, radiology or a related field.
- Handson experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, etc.), cloud computing, and software engineering skills for rapid and accurate development.
- Experience in working with medical imaging and text data.
- Impact driven mindset and ability work and learn in a collaborative and diverse environment.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Track record of publications in top ML and CV conferences or clinical journals.
