Working in the only integrated NHS organisation in the country this is a real opportunity to be working alongside a wide range of healthcare professionals.

This will include utilising excellent copy writing skills, working with the media, managing social media activity, website and intranet work as well as annual events and other associated communications activity.

You will have a natural talent to be able to establish positive working relationships quickly at all levels of the organisation and manage competing priorities.

You will also support the communications for staff listening and engagement events, reward and recognition as well as equality and diversity and supporting our health and wellbeing services.


This role is hybrid with a mix of remote working and site based at St Marys Hospital in Newport, on the Isle of Wight, but you will be required to work flexibly, including out-of-hours.

In addition, you will be responsible for managing our key internal communications channels, our weekly eBulletin and staff health and wellbeing newsletter, Thrive.

Communicating in a timely, appropriate, and accessible way is paramount to ensure our messages land well with our staff and stakeholders.

As the senior communications and engagement officer you will be responsible for designing and delivering campaigns and projects as well as monitoring progress and evaluating success.

You will need good stakeholder management skills to work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders


Job Responsibilities:

Establish relationships and build rapport with line managers and investigating officers for theduration of the case being managed until a resolution/closure has been achieved.

The post holder will need to be able to deal with staff that may be angry and/or upset and theircommunication skills will need to be flexible to be able to respond to changing circumstances.

The post holder will deal with sensitive matters such as bullying and harassment concernsand will be required to be empathetic and sensitive in their approach when providingstakeholders with a range of options.


Deliver specialist employee relation advice, guidance and interpretation to managers including advice on policies and procedures, terms and conditions and best practice ensuringconsistency of practise.

To identify issues from assigned cases or enquires via telephone or in writing and provide ongoing advice and guidance to enable the line manager/employee to resolve the issue.

To ensure that complex situations/cases are correctly analysed/interpreted and risk assessedin order to provide best practice/support.
