SEN Teaching Assistant

40 Hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Full Time Equivalent Salary - £19,742 Under 23 Years of Age, Over 23 Years of Age £20,431

Actual Salary for Under 23 Years of Age working 40 hours, 40 weeks £17,312 per annum

Clervaux Garden School is an exciting and innovative provision which offers full time education to children from 10-19 years who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties.


At Clervaux Garden School students will learn through a dynamic outdoor land and craft based curriculum, which includes practical skills; têxtiles, green woodwork, pottery, cooking and blacksmithing with a significant period of time involved in growing biodynamic produce in the school gardens and looking after the farm animals.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced, self-motivated Teaching Assistants to join our team.

You will work closely with students, to support and facilitate their learning, progress and wellbeing in a range of learning environments which are predominantly based outside across our 100-acre site.


  • An interest in and/or skills in working in an outdoor environment
  • A patient, caring, compassionate and childcentered approach and understanding of how children learn and an interest in developing the whole child
  • You are honest, reliable, an excellent communicator, hardworking, resilient, versatile and a team player
  • Experience of working with special educational needs, autism and attached related needs within an educational setting
  • Excellent observation skills and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our children and young people to reimagine their potential
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy skills
  • A willingness to work outdoors as our student curriculum involves lots of outdoor learning opportunities
  • An interest in developing your own personal knowledge and skills and willingness to step out of your own 'comfort zone'
  • A passion and desire to work with young people with additional needs and willingness to develop your own skills to support the delivery of our unique curriculum
