Job summary:


The Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.


The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Guarding (DSPG) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield.

The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down - a newly built state of the art campus in Hampshire.


This role sits within the Support Unit, providing support and services to all permanent staff and trainee's across the school.

DSLA is seeking a Transport Clerk to sit within the Transport Department, providing transport and road safety services at Worthy Down.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week and attendance to the stated site will be required.


Job description:

The Transport Clerk at DSLA offers an exciting opportunity to work in a busy customer facing admin role.

You will support the Worthy Down site with transport requests and associated administration and bookings. You will also advocate road safety across the site, supporting the Transport Manager and the wider team.

Specific tasks the Transport Clerk is required to deliver:

  • Receive and process Transport Requests from across the station.
  • Book Vehicles and closing them down at the end of the task.
  • Maintain vehicle movements logbook and board daily
  • Assist with the preparation to issue the MOD Drivers Permit including the checking of the UK Drivers Licence Details and printing off the detail from the DVLA Web Site in readiness for Department Transport Manager (DTM) to approve.
  • To assist in the making and maintaining of Driver Training Records (DTR's) in compliance with current regulations.
  • Assist with entering the transport request details onto the Control Register and pricing of any hire vehicles
  • Assist with the annual licence checks completing the related paperwork and checking details on the DVLA Web site.
  • Assist Department Transport Manager with the Annual Road Safety Campaigns and preparation of the Annual Road Safety Week.

Person specification:


The team are looking for an organised individual who shows initiative, can confidently interact with personnel at all levels and can work independently, as well as part of a team.

The individual should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of Microsoft Office skills and have a good telephone manner as they will be liaising with internal and external agencies.


We can offer the successful applicant a fantastic opportunity to undertake an MOD funded Apprenticeship in Customer Services, allowing the job holder to gain a Level 3 qualification.


It is advantageous, though not essential, if applicants:
