Coventry School Foundation (CSF) is an outstanding provider of education for around 1900 pupils, provided by some 500 staff, with history stretching back over 670 years.

Following a recent appointment of a visionary CEO and Principal, the Foundation arecreating another brand-new role of
Chief Operating Officer to drive the organisation forward in the provision of a first-class education experience to its pupils and parents.

Results are great and standards are high, but they continue to challengethemselves on how the education services are delivered and are currently building a clear strategy to expand their offering and grow their services in the coming years.


Working under the title of
Bursar/Chief Operating Officeryou will be responsible for the strategic and people plan for all non-teaching staff and projects.

As critical friend to the Principal/CEO you will be a trusted advisor, soundingboard and deputy within the schools, the Foundation, and the wider community.

As
Chief Operating Officer you will have:


  • Strategic oversight, high quality planning, communications, and delivery to ensure school systems are working at high levels of readiness ahead of the start of the academic year and for each term.
  • Finances: Preparing, reporting, and controlling all budgets, close financial monitoring, and management of the Foundation finances, identifying, and implementing areas of cost efficiency, and ensuring projects run within agreed financial levels.
  • Ensuring all legal and insurance aspects and contractual arrangements are in line with Foundation requirements.
  • Providing line management for direct reports including all aspects of appraisal and performance management.
  • Developing collaboration and communication across support teams, and with team leads, to secure consistency across all sites, through the centralisation of resources.
  • Leading the operations and events meetings to ensure effective and thorough coordination of all aspects of the Foundation support services.
  • Overseeing the Foundation's compliance with relevant legislation and the Independent Schools Standard Regulations (ISSR).
  • Establishing performance measures for all services and reporting on these to the CEO/Principal and Board of Governors


It is essential that you have previous experience working at a senior level, and with full responsibility for all financial reporting and procedures in a complex multi-million-pound business - experience of working within the independent education sectoris desirable but not essential.

You must be a fully qualified accountant - ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.

You must be able to clearly demonstrate outstanding leadership capability and have a proven track record in delivering change through an engaged and cohesive team.

You must be able to bring people together, win their trust and support and take them with you on a journey.


You will be fully supported by the CEO, Trustees and Exec as you on board and establish yourself in the role.

We are looking for someone who brings creativity, commercial thinking, financial rigour, and robust leadership in this role.

You will have the freedomand authority to create strategy and deliver the business plan during an exciting period in the Foundation's history.
