Housekeeping Assistant

Main Purpose of Job:
To ensure the delivery of consistent cleaning standards to client satisfaction


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deep clean specified internal areas after student departures in preparation for summer occupancy by conference guests and university summer schools, using appropriate cleaning techniques, materials and equipment as per recommended cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety is adhered to and personal protective equipment is worn as and when required.
  • Provide a full room cleaning service to include bed making as and when required.
  • Provide a full room servicing including bed making, bed linen changes, replenish supplies to include toilet paper, soap and shower gels etc. waste removal and replacement of waste bags as and when required.
  • Deep clean allocated area of work incorporating all cleaning tasks as per agreed work schedules per area or building

This may include:

  • Cleaning after student departures.
  • In apartments and rooms, vacuuming floors cleaning and dusting furniture, fixtures and fittings/spring cleaning/scrubbing and polishing floor surfaces etc.
  • Deep clean kitchen areas to include ALL fixtures and fittings, including all appliances.
  • Deep clean sanitary areas to include toilets, shower cubicles / wet rooms wash basins and all fixtures and fittings. Remove all waste to waste centre and replace all rubbish bags.
  • Prepare after summer business all rooms, bathrooms and kitchens for student checkin.
  • Any other reasonable cleaning duties.
  • Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues in buildings or allocated areas to Supervisor.
  • Highlight vacant rooms where belongings have been left to confirm disposal or to be kept.
  • Use appropriate cleaning materials and equipment in accordance with Health and Safety Procedures, e.g. the use of 'cleaning awareness signs'. Clean equipment on a regular basis and store correctly after use.
  • Open and secure all doors after rooms are cleaned / serviced whilst ensuring the safekeeping of all keys/ fobs per buildings and returning them to Reception as required.
  • Request cleaning equipment and consumables from Supervisor for allotted area and use according to recommended procedures.
  • Report all accidents/incidents immediately they occur following the appropriate procedure.
  • May deal with individual queries in an appropriate manner to ensure good customer service.
  • Comply with procedures, including those governing Health and Safety and Customer Care.
  • Attend staff training as and when required.
  • To provide a level of customer service whilst ensuring that work conforms to an agreed quality level and standards. Promote customer service excellence within the team in all communications and contact with University staff, students and customers.
  • Carry out any other duties which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by Supervisor.
  • Adhere to Queen's Data Protection Policy.

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary contract

Part-time hours: 25 per week


Salary:
£10.42 per hour


Schedule:

  • Weekend availability
