This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic clinical trials team based in the pharmacy manufacturing unit at Guys Hospital.

The post holder will be joining a friendly, motivated and positive team.


This post is suited to those experienced working as a CRA position or experienced in NHS clinical trials / research setting and with a passion for pharmaceutical research.

The post holder will be assisting in the delivery of a variety of studies helping to change NHS treatments and patients lives.


The main focus of the post is to support in all aspects of the trials/studies on a day to day basis, including screening new requests,, follow-up on quotations, documentation generation and to achieve departmental goals.


A key part of the role will be to liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team across departments therefore you must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate good attention to detail.


The post holder will fulfil the role of research assistant responsible for supporting the pharmacy manufacturing unit on a day to day basis.

The post holder will be accountable for all aspects of the clinical trials process under direct supervision. The responsibilities will include information collection, data management, documentation generation and organisational duties.

You will need to demonstrate a willingness to work across organisations and within a multidisciplinary research and manufacturing environment.

  • Research & Development Responsibilities
  • To ensure that procedures relating to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Clinical Trials management and good documentation practice are followed, and to encourage and maintain high standards and orderly methods of working.
  • To maintain labelling standards in line with GMP and GCP requirements.
  • To accurately prepare Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) and support medications in line with trial specific procedures and departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To participate in the counting and recording of IMPs and related medications, following departmental policies and procedures and complying with study protocols.
  • To participate in expiry date checking of IMPs and related medication following departmental policies and procedures and complying with study protocols.
  • To ensure that adequate stock of IMPs and related medication are kept at all times and review and liaise on any orders for manually ordered drugs
  • To check and put away IMPs and related medication, according to departmental procedures of stock rotation and to note and report any discrepancies to the Senior Trials Team.
  • To participate in temperature monitoring of IMPs and related medication following departmental policies and procedures and complying with study protocols.
  • To deliver a customerfocused service to all clients.
  • To adhere to the highest principles of customer services when dealing with any clients.
