RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan audit schedules based on risk and/or previous audit performance.
  • Develop new audit questionnaires for ECMS risks and activities and modify existing audit questionnaires.
  • Organise and lead an audit team through all phases of the audit and identify nonconformances/deficiencies.
  • Act as the audit team leader to prepare for and conduct objective, thorough and consistent plant/site audits in accordance with ECMS audit protocol.
  • Conduct effective preaudit preparations, Analyse plant preaudit information to estimate potential hazards.
  • Study the audit reports of similar plants as well as past incidents to target the key areas during the audit.
  • Act as the point of contact to site leadership teams, coordinating travel and onsite activities, complete documentation on questionnaires and final audit reports for global distribution to relevant executive levels.
  • Perform a diligent plant inspection including all areas, buildings, locations, floors as well as conducting a thorough audit against assigned EHS audit protocols which includes employee behaviour observation and inspection of documents and practices.
  • Observe and identify potential hazards or deficiencies and present recommendations on the result of the audit to site leadership and the head of business unit operations.
  • Stay abreast of issues that impact EHS and compliance with either ECMS or governmental standards and regulations.
  • Make complex decisions under time pressure, based on objective evidence and facts. Interactions can sometimes be challenging and complex due to the nature of the audit function.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Engineering, EHS, or related field.
  • 5 Years or more of experience in implementing environmental, industrial hygiene and safety programs in a manufacturing arena. Experience with various audit cycles.
  • Detailed knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental and Process Safety, as it applies in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Strong organization skills focused on scheduling audits, forming audit teams and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills focused on objectivity, data and facts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to obtain objective evidence and explain audit findings to site leaders.
  • Strong professional judgement regarding when to consult with supervisor regarding significant potential findings.
  • Strong English speaking and writing skills to communicate with all levels of the organization including Executive Leadership.
  • Expertise in Occupational Safety, Environmental and Process Safety is preferred.
  • The position requires +50% travel with domestic and periodic international travel required (Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa).
  • Hybrid/Home based working will be considered.
