RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Coventry for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA).


The purpose of this role is to develop and deliver confidential high-quality outreach and advocacy services support services to victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence and abuse at the highest risk levels living in the community.

This is a role is offered on a fixed-term contract until 2025 with a salary of £25,000 per annum.


Main Duties:


  • Accept referrals from the police and MARAC's thorough the Helpline or directly into the IDVA service and undertake risk and needs and eligibility assessments according to the organisation's policy and procedures and identify actions.
  • Manage a caseload ensuring each woman receives the appropriate service individual to her needs.
  • Carry out regular risk assessment and safety planning with women and to promote women's safety in multiagency settings such as MARAC.
  • Work with Safeguarding Adults and Children protocols and policies procedures and refer to safeguarding children's board and children & young people's team as appropriate.
  • Recognize women and children's individual needs, providing a short to medium term service to meet those needs and to work with women to identify their 'support' needs and incorporate these into women's Individual Support Plans (ISP).
  • Undertake any casework necessary in conjunction with other professionals and agencies such as police and public protection unit Social Services, Health Visitors, Solicitors, etc.
  • Promote awareness of the impact of domestic violence FGM forced marriage honourbased violence, NRPF on BME ad Migrant women and children and the organisation's services.
  • Work in a safe and responsible way ensuring that safety procedures are followed and that you do not endanger yourself your colleagues and service users.

Essential Requirements:


  • Qualified as and IDVA or ISVA.
  • Minimum of three year working with BME communities experiencing domestic violence.
  • Minimum of three years in a social care/ welfare setting.
  • Experience of working with Black Asian and Minority Communities.
  • Experience of working within safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Fluent in English and at least one main BME language.
  • High level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of relevant legislation
