Therapist - Residential Childcare
To provide Therapy Service to Children and young people within Care Perspectives presenting with complex trauma and learning difficulties.

We are looking for a psychological therapist who is accredited and registered with the appropriate Regulatory body (BACP/UKCP/BPS/HCPC) to work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team supporting young people to develop and progress emotionally, socially and behaviourally.


Working environment:

The post holder will be required to travel to other settings to undertake elements of their role as necessary.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Organising and undertaking oneonone therapy sessions and group interventions with children and young people within Care Perspectives presenting with learning difficulties and complex trauma. This will be for both time limited, focussed interventions and longerterm work with young people.
  • Assessing, developing and implementing individual and group therapy.
  • Making psychological formulations, clinical judgements including risk assessments and providing recommendations for the care of children and young people.
  • Attending reviews and meetings in relation to children and young people, reporting on interventions being used and advising the broader support service about issues needing to be considered for the child's emotional wellbeing. Supporting the development of behaviour management plans and risk management plans, where appropriate.
  • Liaising with key adults who support the young person as needed
  • Providing attachment and complex trauma training, for example, to staff and others regarding the needs of children and young people.
  • Provision of consultation, reflective practice, to staff teams in relation to the young people for which they care.
  • To undertake necessary requirements of the service in relation to measuring outcomes, reporting activity and providing written reports and support the service in line with clinical governance
  • To establish effective working relationships both within the clinical service and with colleagues both within and external to the organisation
  • To demonstrate highly effective verbal and written communication skills and establish robust communication networks with both the children being seen and the network that supports them.
  • To be responsible for receiving appropriate clinical supervision
  • To attend line management supervision as agreed with line manager.
  • To manage a case load and provide support to an allocated group of children and residential homes.
  • To be able to travel within the role where necessary
  • Where the staff member is a member of a professional body they are required to ensure their registration is current and practice continuous professional development
  • To follow all Care Perspectives policies and procedures in relation to the role
  • To undertake any other tasks, in discussion with line manager, as required for the running of the service.

Qualifications

  • Counselling, Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy Qualification
  • Essential
  • Hold the require registration / accreditation with the relevant Professional body e.g., BACP, HCPC, UKCP, IACP, BPS or BABCP and adhere to the associated Code of Conduct
  • Essential
  • Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology or equivalent.
  • You will be qualified with substantial postqualification clinical experience in mental health or psychotherapeutic work with young people. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, have experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to make good use of supervision and line management
