Employee Relations Advisor - Halton Borough Council (HYBRID WORKDING)

We are looking for a
Employee Relations Advisor you will be based at
:WA8

We are currently working with local authorities across the Liverpool area to help recruit for Employee Relations Advisor,

Your Role:


1 Maintain an up to date knowledge of employment legislation and codes of practice relating to employee health and wellbeing and assist in the provision of advice on differing terms and conditions of employment and contractual issues to managers and head teachers.

2 Develop all wellbeing policies and associated documents in response to legislative changes and

other initiatives to ensure that policies, procedures and practices are compliant.


3 Maintain and develop an up to date knowledge of external employee support providers, to maximise provision so that employees can receive specialist assistance and advice, where required.


4 Advise employees, managers and head teachers and administer arrangements relating to the Council's wellbeing and family friendly policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, fairness, consistency and good practice.


5 Evaluate job descriptions and analyse new and amended posts to ensure that a consistent pay and grading structure is maintained (including advising at grading appeals).

7 Liaise with trade union officials and representatives on wellbeing issues to progress and/or resolve individual employee issues.

8 Act as liaison officer to the Council's occupational health provider to ensure that staff issues are effectively progressed and that the Council receives maximum benefit from the occupational health agreement


This includes:
- advising on and administering referral forms;
- monitoring the Service Level Agreement;
- ensuring that employees/workers who do not attend appointments are invoiced for the cost of non-attendance.
- advising managers on medical screening procedures, e.g. vibration white finger, industrial deafness, visual display unit eye screening, night working,


9 Contribute to and participate in the delivery of human resources related training programmes, including attendance management, job evaluation/appeals, induction, pre-retirement planning, etc., to ensure that managers, head teachers, elected members and school governors comply with legislation and Council procedures.


10 Attend formal and informal meetings or training events (including those held in the evenings) in respect of employment legislation, human resources, pay and pensions policies and procedures or individual staffing issues.

12 Undertake project work across the Division's activities to ensure that a whole team approach is supported across the Human Resources Division.

14 Fulfil personal requirements, where appropriate, with regard to the Council's policies and procedures, particularly in respect of health and safety, emergency evacuation, security, equal opportunities, customer care, work standards and promotion of the Council's Core Values


15 Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time, which are commensurate with the grade of the job.
