About the Role


Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager you are responsible for ongoing management of purchasing strategy and activity and for ensuring optimal supplier performance and price.

You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, make strategic decisions and implement best practices within our procurement function.


Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the purchasing function is operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings
  • Lead and manage a small team to deliver the appropriate support to the business to ensure corporate and business objectives are met
  • Review and seek continuous improvement opportunities for the development of purchasing strategies. Looking into costs, inventory levels, lead times and continuity of supply and quality management.
  • Build strong business relationships with UK, EU and International suppliers to maximise supply chain effectiveness.
  • Collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and address supply challenges, mitigating supply risk to the business
  • Develop an overall supplier base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage
  • Provide purchasing support for new product development initiatives
  • Seek opportunities to improve customer and supplier satisfaction levels.
  • Carry out regular performance review meetings with suppliers & internal customers

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Experience working in a Purchasing environment
  • Experience working within the manufacturing industry
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
