LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE IN GENERAL SURGERY

Applicants must be Surgical trained to Speciality Registrar (StR4) level or above. This is an Exposure Prone post.

The successful applicants will join a well-established team comprising another eight doctors at StR level 4 or above attached to the Upper GI unit which provides both elective and emergency surgical care for the Lothian population providing registrar level support to the service.

The main commitment will be to provide cover to the emergency general surgery on-call rota, and secondly to participate in the elective day surgery and inpatient ward duties with a focus on benign Upper GI surgery, general surgery and abdominal wall/complex hernia work.

There will also be an element of undergraduate and Foundation-level teaching.

The post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
