Come and join us at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as we implement innovations to improve our community service. Our service is changing and evolving to meet the needs of our local population.

We are now establishing continuity of carer caseload teams set within a defined geographical area based in a children's centre and are looking for Team Leaders.

You will lead a small team of midwives providing total care to a mixed caseload of both high and low risk women.

We want to promote high quality, family centre care, which is evidence based and sensitive to individual needs. If you are interested, come and share your midwifery experience with us.

We are committed to ensuring you have a development plan which meets your needs, as we want your career to flourish with us.

You will be supported by the Trust with training, safeguarding supervision, support from the senior midwifery team and specialist midwives to develop your practice.

Ideally work at least 30 hours a week, be a car driver. Have a flexible approach to working within a team providing a 24 hour service, facilitating birth in all settings including home, our midwifery led-units and labour wards

  • Provide high quality, evidencebased care and advice to women throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods in a variety of settings such as the community, hospital and woman's home.
  • Provide continuity of care and carer in combination with emotional andpsychological support during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periodsand ensure that the needs of the woman are placed at the centre of caredelivery. Supporting birth in all areas
  • Work alongside multi professional teams providing the most appropriate care,whilst breaking down barriers that may inhibit women with socially complex lives accessing high quality maternity care
  • You will manage your caseload of women and be based in a children's centreand cover a set geographical area. Working within a team of midwivesproviding 24 hour provision of care. This will include weekend working andnight on call commitment.
  • Possess sound knowledge of safeguarding issues, domestic abuse, femalegenital mutilation and mental health illness in order to advocate for women andtheir families
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical practice ensuring knowledge, skills and competencies are current and act as a clinical expert to disseminate specialistskills and knowledge to others.
  • Develop and support band 6 midwives allocated to your team
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Trust's objectives by working to improve clinicaloutcomes, increase productivity, efficiency and quality in care delivery.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Provide effective, individualised, womencentred, evidencebased midwifery led care.
  • Provide a 24 hour on call service within the caseload team including home birth and to encourage continuity and flexibility
  • Ensure the effective use of resources
  • Provide support, education and mentorship to other midwives, student midwives and designated support staff.
  • Provide education and support to core midwives in relation to field of speciality.
  • Maintain own professional practice and that of others in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council guidance
