The Cavendish Laboratories are seeking a Head of Cavendish Estates to lead the delivery of Physics research and teaching support services, including all buildings and technical services across the Cavendish Estate.
The Cavendish Estate is the home of the Department of Physics and consists of the new state of the art Ray Dolby Centre which is due to open at the end of 2023, along with 4 other research buildings and the legacy Cavendish II laboratory complex which is due to be vacated.
The estate includes a mix of high specification complex physics laboratories, workshops, teaching classes, bookable lecture theatres, seminar and meeting rooms, and support spaces.
This role reports to and has a key day to day interface with the Chief Operating Officer who is the Head of Professional Services and together provide strategic oversight and interface with the senior research community.
This role will also have strong connections to the Estates Division's Senior Operations Manager who is responsible for the hard maintenance of the estate's buildings.
This role sits within the Department's Senior Leadership Team.The main duties of the role include:
- Lead Customer focussed delivery of Technical, Engineering & FM services -Develop and implement workplace strategies -Act as the primary interface with the Research and Teaching community for functions such as Research equipment Asset Management, Laboratory design and services, Statutory Compliance, Health & Safety, Programme Delivery and Sustainability -Drive Soft FM performance through SLA's and KPI's -Deliver high standards of statutory compliance and health & safety performance throughout the estate. -Budget management -Providing technical and FM guidance
You will be able to demonstrate leadership experience in Laboratory design and service support, FM and Engineering (mechanical/electronic) services, within a large and complex research establishment.
As well you will be able to show a real passion for delivering customer focussed services and understand the importance of the customer journey within a building.
For this role you will need to be an excellent communicator, who has the ability to show strong leadership and work within a team to deliver a high standard of service.
