We are looking for an accomplished senior graphic designer to join our talented in-house design team.

You will be based in our London Design Studio, on -site, reporting to the Head of Creative Operations and Senior Art Director.

This role requires a strong, independent and experienced designer who will be confident communicating all aspects of Sotheby's auctions and services across digital and printed media for the London and European offices.


This is an excellent opportunity for a talented creative individual who can lead high profile projects and deliver imaginative design solutions from concept to online/digital as well as guiding more junior members of the team.

You are ideally from a design studio or agency background with broad exposure to cutting edge brands.

You should have a design degree (or equivalent qualification), total fluency in Mac based design and excellent interpersonal, managerial and communication skills.

Good organisational ability, keen attention to detail and flexibility, proven ability to lead creative direction whilst comfortable taking direction. Following brand guidelines are also essential.

You are a natural leader, multi-tasker, an organised professional, positive, versatile and a team player, self-motivated and are passionate about great design in both a digital and print context.


Responsibilities:


  • Working within Sotheby's brand guidelines and spearheading creative direction on key design projects which include marketing and corporate campaigns; invitations and Special Event items; online and digital media; business development support and pitch materials; advertising
  • Taking lead on projects whilst giving support to more junior designers in the team
  • Handson research, concepts, mock ups & presentation of ideas through to creation of finished artwork to send to print and publish online/digitally
  • Project Management & Administration: Work closely with other colleagues in the Design Studios; Liaise with colleagues in the Marketing team and internal/external clients; liaise with external production suppliers; seeing projects through from initial brief to completion; working within budgets and to tight deadlines; maintaining archive and record of projects; general office admin

Required Experience:


  • Completed Bachelor's degree, ideally in relevant field of study
  • A natural flair for creative design with excellent layout/composition, typographical and aesthetic coherence
  • Experience of working with cutting edge and/or luxury brands
  • Proven experience of managing others and leading projects
  • Intune with current design trends in digital and print
  • Excellent knowledge of print production/finishing and online/digital media processes
  • Proficient with use of Adobe Creative Suite (such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) on Apple Mac platform. In addition, knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required; experience of Workfront (job tracking system) is ideal but not essential
  • Experience of artdirecting photoshoots
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) and be committed, reliable and capable of working well both independently and as a part of a team
  • Highly motivated, organised, proactive, enthusiastic and resourceful, with the ability to work on different and varied projects at one time, often to tight deadlines
