Purpose of the role
As part of the Apprentice Scheme you will work in a technical and operational role with a distinct focus on the fabrication side of our business within the Lundy Projects Team.
As an apprentice you will spend your time within the business and undertake a combined day-release schedule with the training provider during the three-year scheme.

Job description
- To gain the relevant skills through the Apprentice Scheme and deliver against the schemes Route to Competence. You will receive immersive and handson experience within this discipline to support this development.
- Gain an indepth knowledge of the Safety Culture within your discipline, your division and Colas Rail ensuring you adhere to all Safety and Ethical requirements.
- Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm to learn & gain experience to support the projects you work on.
- Make a strong contribution to your team and support your colleagues across key projects to gain and develop your experience.
- You will work towards your End Point Assessment, Technical Certification and professional recognition within your discipline.
- Attend and learn from the various training courses specified within the Scheme plan.
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any reasonable duties as required.
Job Requirements
- GCSE in Maths, English & ICT (Grade C & above or equivalent).
- Demonstrate an interest to be part of the Engineering & Rail Industry and Colas Rail.
- Work within a team to deliver successful projects
- Work independently using your own initiative where required
- Demonstrate the Behaviours within our 5 E¿s Behavioural Framework
- An excellent communicator, with strong organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Good problemsolving skills and the ability to make effective decisions.
- Relevant experience in a similar level role in a modern manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrates energy and determination in the face of obstacles to meet challenging targets, on time and within budget.
- Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to ensure understanding and to influence positive outcomes.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Excellent project management skills.

- Able to work flexibly and work across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.
