Job Description - Maintenance Team MemberReports to:
General Manager/Deputy Manager
Responsible to:
General Manager
Job Purpose - To assist the Facilities team in delivering key Portering services to the Hotel in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
- Supporting the Facilities Department ensuring all areas of the Hotel are compliant and secure through regular checks and inspections, faults are identified and recorded, safeguarding and contractor procedures are followed.
- To assist the Deputy Manager or General Manager in carrying out a wide range of general handyperson tasks as directed.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Portering Setting up and breaking down meeting and conference rooms Moving of furniture, boxes and related equipment Internal and external deliveries including post, photocopy paper To ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with local waste disposal policy and Health and Safety standards followed.
- Compliancy Undertake weekly compliancy testing of emergency lights, fire extinguisher, ladder, PAT testing, fire doors and all other fire safety checks Perform regular inspections and or cleaning of external drains and gutters, plant rooms and other essential services Escorting and supervising of contractors Reporting any health and safety concerns or maintenance defects - Maintenance / Caretaking Performing minor repairs and handyman duties - changing light bulbs, unblocking toilets, changing batteries, Cover for Caretaking duties as required Responding to emergencies, fire marshal duties.
Provide hands on assistance where required2
MINIMUM OPERATING STANDARDS:
- Team members are to be presentable to the public at all times and are to wear Corporate Clothing as provided by or instructed by the Hotel.
- All staff will be properly inducted, trained for the job that they do and developed fully to meet changing requirements. Written records of these matters are to be kept on each staff member's file.
SECURITY:
In terms of security, staff are responsible for: - Ensuring the security of all the areas being worked in across the Hotel environment.
- Reporting suspicious circumstances to the deputy manager and/or the General Manager. - Maintaining a high level of general security awareness.TRAINING:
- Staff may, from time to time, be required to undergo training relevant to the responsibilities above or related functions. Such training may be residential. The cost of this training and reasonable expenses will be borne by the Hotel.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- The post holder should be sympathetic, as well as the practical, to the requirements of the Hotel and be able to work to, often tight, deadlines under sometimes demanding conditions to enable these to be maintained.
- Previous Portering and or Handyman experience is desirable
- Able to work to a high standard and take pride in the quality of work is essential.
- Be proactive, organised and ability to work without direct supervision
- Some computer skills required in word, excel and outlook.
- Excellent communication skills with an enthusiastic approach to customer service
- Able to work as a team member and on own initiative
- Flexible to deal with changing priorities
- Present a professional approach at all times

£26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
