Description

To act as a clinical lead in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Wound pathologies providing specialist advice and support on foot wounds to community staff and other health care professionals within primary and secondary care whilst managing a specialist individual caseload.

To work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team creating care plans for patients and providing clinical support to diabetes lead podiatrist (community) in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

To use specialist knowledge in providing a high quality, patient centred service, with the aim of preventing lower limb morbidity.

Providing treatment of complex wounds following assessment and interpretation of clinical findings.

In addition to provide intervention to reduce incidents of pressure damage associated with the at risk foot.

To assist the podiatry service manager and diabetes lead podiatrist (community) in planning, developing and implementing strategies for the wound care service.

This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the postholder when necessary and in line with the service developments


KEY RESULT AREAS:
To be responsible for a caseload of patients with foot wounds having multifaceted pathologies.

Working with the support of the diabetes lead podiatrist use advanced diagnostic knowledge and skills to assess, analyse, investigate and diagnose complex foot pathologies, chronic and acute wounds, requiring interpretation and judgement on both the clinical and social findings.
