Support Worker to join our dedicated team based in
Ely, Cardiff. We currently have 4 people we support in their home, with 2 vacancies. This is what the gentlemen have said.

"I am a 56 year old male and I like to be sociable and spend time with my family. I need prompting with my personal care and daily living tasks, I love to get out into the community and visit pubs and restaurants for food and have a keen interest in Formula 1 and motorbike racing. I am looking for someone who is sociable and has a sense of humour. I like to go to the walking group every Friday and enjoy socialising with my friends. This is a fantastic activity we would really like you to join us."

"I am a 71 year old male and I am a huge Elvis fan, I have been to Graceland twice, I need assistance with my personal care as I am in a wheelchair, I am looking for someone who can talk to me about music and enjoys a laugh".

"I am a 51 year old male who has a keen interest in bowls, I am part of a bowls team in Cardiff and like to meet up with my friends there every week and participate in tournaments, I need prompting with my personal care and daily living tasks, I enjoy going to pubs and restaurants for food, I am looking for someone who is funny".

"I am a 76 year old male who enjoys watching James Bond films and singing, I need assistance with my personal care and daily activities, I am looking for someone who is patient and kind"

In this exciting role you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation

mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability.

We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.

What will you be doing?

As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.
You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.
The nature of the role involved manual handling.

You may understand the issues associated with people with complex needs, but we will provide in depth training and coaching.
