£58,500 - £74,750 depending on qualifications and experience


About the role
Leading a small team, the Category Manager will be accountable for the sourcing and supplier management.

Responsible for ensuring that the needs of the business are met, and commercial value is driven through the supply chain, by working collaborativelywith the business to identify and deliver these improvements.

Be responsible for understanding the future contract needs of the business, reviewing the market profile and ensuring the Procurement Plan and Category Strategies reflect this.


Key Accountabilities

  • Supports and leads team towards departmental vision and acts as a catalyst for change and has the ability to influence business strategy
  • Motivates and inspire their teams to deliver against ever increasing challenging business targets
  • Accountability for measuring team results and taking corrective action when required
  • Effectively manages resource levels to ensure delivery whilst maintaining/reducing operating costs
  • Networks with business and industry peers to drive improvement
  • Effectively networks and brings commercial/procurement expertise to senior stakeholders
  • Accountable for direct reports performance and developing talent for succession
  • Recognises individual performance and has the ability to address nonperformance
  • Accountable for aligning broader business objectives to the team objectives and working with the team to understand how they can impact these

About You

  • Previous experience of category management and strategic sourcing or a commercial role
  • Experience of working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities across the value stream
  • Track record of delivering sustainable commercial savings
  • Driving change initiatives using lean principles
  • Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders in order to drive commercial savings
