The Role - Safeguarding Officer - Barnet, North London:

As a Safeguarding Officer at this College, your objective is to promote and safeguard the welfare of students in the College.


Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Meet with students regarding safeguarding and wellbeing concerns raised by staff, parents, students and external services.
  • Identify and manage caseloads for most vulnerable students
  • Receive and maintain advanced level safeguarding training for designated staff
  • Attend regular safeguarding meetings to discuss and keep Designated Safeguarding Lead updated with cases
  • Write and devise ANISPS for most vulnerable students (currently complete and 5 in progress) as part of the Fitness to Study policy
  • To refer and share information with appropriate external agencies
  • To refer students to College Counsellors
  • To provide advice and support to other staff on issues relating to safeguarding
  • To deal with individual cases, including attending case conferences, external meetings and review meetings as appropriate
  • You will have extensive Safeguarding knowledge, training and practice and be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • You will be a confident, caring individual who understands the importance of confidentiality and appropriate responses to sensitive situations
  • You will have a passion for education and for ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students
