Job description


This is an exciting role to facilitate the successful delivery of capital projects making a positive difference for residents and businesses across the City.

This role is focused on ensuring the successful monitoring and delivery of the Council's capital programme.

This includes working with and providing reporting to the Council's senior Management Team and supporting Project Teams to successfully take projects from conception to delivery, ensuring effective governance is deployed across the capital programme.

As well as enabling project managers to be successful, the purpose of the role is to implement a new, co-ordinated approach to support the delivery of major programmes of work across the Council, including those being delivered by our trading companies.


Key elements of the role include:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of the capital programme which includes large scale major development projects
  • Effectively communicating to bring people with you to meet reporting and governance requirements, including senior managers, partners and stakeholders
  • Be outcome focused and driven to accelerate the successful delivery of projects
  • Ensure project funding decisions are captured and reflected in project budgets
  • Collaboration across multiple disciplines to test, tweak and embed new ways of working that deliver projects within budget, on time and meeting clearly defined outcomes
  • Actively coach, provide training and support people across the organisation to effective governance and processes are followed
  • Identify areas of improvement to continually enhance the Project Management Office to support project managers across the organisation.
