At Great Yarmouth Borough Council, we have a vision to improve the life chances of all those living and working in our borough.

By taking an inclusive approach to addressing physical and mental well-being we will reduce health inequalities faced within the community.

Cultural Connections is an exciting new project developed to build on the volunteering infrastructures that exist across Great Yarmouth and East Suffolk Council areas.

The project has been funded by Spirit 2012's Volunteering Cities grant stream and will engage with and support residents new to volunteering overcome barriers they may experience that prevent them becoming volunteers.

Learning from previous Spirit 2012 funded projects has been utilised to develop an inclusive project, which will engage and empower residents to play an active role within their community.

The project is working in conjunction with incredible cultural and heritage partner organisations which will be able to provide a variety of volunteering opportunities for those engaged with the project and the project can support this with funding to overcome barriers such as travel, and offer exciting incentives based on their level of engagement.

The Volunteer Project Officer will be the main point of contact for a range of cultural and heritage voluntary sector partners, ensuring a pipeline of exciting volunteering opportunities are available to residents involved.

You will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinators, ensuring a small grants pot is promoted for groups to run their own inclusive volunteer engagement activities.
