You will work closely with the Clinical Imaging & Medical Physics (CLIMP) Senior Management Team, Deputy Head of Radiology, Modality Superintendents, Clinical Leads and Senior colleagues to ensure a patient focused, safe, efficient and cost-effective intervention service that is able to meet the current and future needs of our patients.


This will require you to line manage a designated team, manage your budget, assist in the delivery of access, activity and financial targets and closely monitor and deal with relevant clinical governance issues.


The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality imaging services on the St Thomas' site, Guy's site Guy's Cancer Centre and the Evelina Children's Hospital.

The post holder is responsible for the provision of Radiology Services across the Trust to both internal and external referral sources.

They will ensure that Radiology services are developed and delivered to a diversity of patient presentations across all specialties.

  • To be accountable for the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a high quality, safe effective and efficient Radiology Service. To ensure the provision of a service of excellence in accordance with the aims, philosophy and strategic direction of the Trust, and the wider healthcare economy. To provide leadership, operational management and ensure a high standard of care through appropriate risk management and governance of the clinical service and to ensure the service meets key performance indicators as agreed internally and with local commissioners.
  • As professional Head of the Diagnostic Radiography workforce in CLIMP, to be a key professional lead for all Diagnostic Radiographers, and to offer the highest level of professional management to facilitate and support service development and delivery, encompassing areas of education, continuing professional development and research initiatives.
  • To work closely with the Clinical Leads, as a Senior Management Team, to ensure excellence across the service.
  • As Head of Service to represent Radiology in all relevant forums both within the Trust and with any outside agencies and to serve as a consultant to the Trust in relation to the strategic development of Radiology Services across the organisation.
  • To be responsible for departmental budget, activity and physical resources including equipment, technology, and demand and capacity. To be responsible for actively leading on the business planning process and its delivery.
  • To play an active role in the life work of Radiology, taking responsibility for its service and performance at all levels.
