Description

To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary peri-operative team, practicing a high standard of clinical care and participating in all activities of the department to enhance the patient experience.

The post holder will work flexibly alongside team members to meet the needs of the service.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care during the peri-operative event
The post holder will be expected to participate fully in the relevant rota, to including working on call commitment.


Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure.

Participate in the service and on-call rota, undertake rotation within the theatres to support personal and service development needs Recognise and value the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and to coordinate the care delivery.

Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
Under the direction of senior practitioners, develop and provide standards of good practice to ensure individualised patient centred care.
Prepare and organise clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency and trauma procedures. To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.
Provide skilled assistance to the surgeon/anaesthetist in a variety of clinical situations including elective, emergency and trauma work
Share specialist knowledge with colleagues and other member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Work within the guidelines of NMC/HPC registration
Responsible for adhering to the NMC / ODP professional Code of Conduct
The post holder is responsible and accountable for their own practice in line with Trust Infection Prevention and Control policies that reflect evidence, best practice and legislative requirement
