The Community Equipment Service has visible and responsive leadership, setting the standards for others and role modelled throughout the division for all managers.

There are opportunities for work within the Knowsley and Liverpool Equipment Services.

Knowsley Equipment Service is based at Centre for Independent Living, Brickfields, L36 6HY

Liverpool Equipment Service is based at 4-7 Graylaw Trading Estate
Wareing Road L9 7AU


Community Equipment Assistants play an important role in the day to day work of the service dealing with the movement of equipment within the warehouse, decontaminating all returned equipment adhering to Trust policies and procedures, loading and unloading of equipment onto Trust vehicle adhering to manual handling training.

Assist in cleaning and refurbishment of equipment.

Identify damaged equipment for repair or condemnation.

Move equipment around the warehouse from the cleaning area to the storage areas etc.

Assist in loading and unloading deliveries and collections.

Assist in getting delivery loads together for the drivers, the satellite stores and the mobile assessment unit.


Assist the drivers in the delivery and collection of equipment in the community, especially when there are large items requiring 2 person delivery.

Comply with health and safety requirements when handling equipment especially dirty equipment awaiting cleaning.

Communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team

Report any incidents or concerns to equipment co-ordinator or community equipment nurse.

Undertake general warehouse and storekeeping duties.

Advise the co-ordinator of minimum stock levels.

Cleaning of equipment - undertake cleaning of equipment ad identified in infection control and local policies.

Inspect all returned equipment for damage and carry out routine maintenance repairs as necessary. Report major defects to the co-ordinator.


To take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others in the working environment and comply with instructions on safe moving and handling practices.

To attend health and safety and equipment awareness training to maintain up to date skills and knowledge.

Report any adverse incidents using events reporting procedure.

The post holder shall as necessary provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues.

The post holder shall follow all the policies and procedures of the Trust.
