The role


Here at the Great Run Company, our Trainee Programme offers you an amazing launchpad for your project management career within the UK's biggest mass participation sports business and a true Northeast institution.

We've cheered over 4.7m runners, swimmers, and cyclists across our finish lines as we inspire people to get active and take part in some of the World's best events.

Project Management

  • Developing project proposals and providing business cases for new or repeat events projects including defining timescales, schedules and budgets with the assistance of the GRC Project Manager
  • Coordinating project management activities, resources, equipment and information
  • Prepare and distribute project communications within the project teams, highlighting any changes to the project's baseline.
  • Updating of work packages and work breakdown structure
  • Responsible for gaining feedback at the end of each project from project team, crew and suppliers to gather information for the debrief process and Project Closure documents

Reporting

  • Responsible for project meeting notes, actioning and issuing reports, including project summary and update reports for project managers across various projects
  • Use project management tools to monitor working hours and produce time booking reports for review with Project Managers
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and report

Communication

  • Identify communication plans for project duration
  • Ensure project team meetings are held regularly as required and project are reviewed


From day one you will be focussing on developing your capability, most of your professional and technical development will be through on-the-job learning.

You will receive a wide range of training opportunities tailored to your specific personal needs and you'll be funded to undertake your PRINCE 2 qualification.

This will develop your skills and capabilities to set you up for success.


With the support of your colleagues, manager, and a mentor, you'll be given the autonomy and tools to innovate as you make a personal impact.

Upon completion of this 3-year programme, you will be fully equipped to take on a role within the team that utilises your strengths, further enhances your skills and kickstarts a fantastic career.

You'll receive an annual salary starting at £20,000, with an annual holiday entitlement of 25 days plus bank holidays.
