We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Support Worker to join our dedicated team based in Fairwater, Cardiff.

In this pivotal role you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation.


What do the people we support have to say?
The gents range between 36 and 59.

'I am a 36 year old man that is very independent. I volunteer twice weekly in a local charity shop. I enjoy being self-sufficient, I like to cook meals for myself and the other gents. I need some support and guidance with healthy eating. I like out-going people that I can have a laugh with.'

'I am a 53 year old man that needs support with cooking, keeping myself safe and engaging with the local community. I love Cardiff FC, movies, music and Elvis. I love going out to the cinema, going to see shows and going for drives. I love James bond and Elvis Presley.'

'I am a 59 year old man that requires support with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and going into my local community. I enjoy upbeat members of staff that will go to the pub with me, support me to my local café's for a coffee. I enjoy spending time alone along with socializing with staff and my other housemates. I love to sing and listen to music. I like to go on holidays where I eat nice food and enjoy walking along the beach.'

'I am a 53 year old man with an infectious laugh and I love to socialize I can be unsteady on my feet so I need support and reassurance when walking. I need support with all aspects of daily life, such as personal care, cooking food and going to activities. I love to go for meals with my family, I love parties and dancing. I have a big personality and enjoy working with people with the same happiness and energy'


Who are we?


Mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability.

We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.


What will you be doing?

  • As a Support Worker you will support vulnerable people in some wonderful social activities; these could include walking groups, cinema, meals with family members, gardening
  • As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
  • You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
  • As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.
  • You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.

You may understand the issues associated with people with complex needs, but we will provide in depth training and coaching.
