Milestone Infrastructure Ltd is currently looking to recruit a Parish Steward Supervisor to work on our Wiltshire Highways contract.


As the Parish Steward Supervisor you will be part of our Operational delivery team who are responsible for the maintenance of the highways network in Wiltshire.


As a Parish Steward Supervisor, you will be responsible for the daily supervision of all Parish Stewards to ensure a consistent approach of the service.

Liaising with the Stewards, Wiltshire Council, Parish and Town Councils to ensure all highway maintenance activities are completed within the Community Area on time and to specification.


Main Duties & Responsibilities for a Parish Steward Supervisor:

  • Visit each Parish Steward in their area once every 2 weeks.
  • Spend a minimum of one day a week in each of the 3 highways depots, Wilton, Chippenham & Melksham
  • Review and update the Parish Steward program and place copy of this in folder on SharePoint.
  • Monitor Parish Steward attendance in each Parish against agreed program.
  • Record all works identified that fall outside of the Parish steward task list.
  • Ensure works that are not related to Parish steward task list are brought to the attention of WCC Parish Steward lead.
  • Roll out and brief all Parish Stewards on revised Risk Assessment when approved.
  • Supervision/support of larger parish works where additional resource is required.
  • Improved communications between Parish Steward, their parish and WCC representative.
  • Monitor and record the number of jobs completed by each Parish Steward weekly noting work category.
  • Keep record of parish work requests in central location on SharePoint
  • Undertake monthly meetings with Parish Stewards in each depot location.
  • Provide cover for other maintenance supervisors during periods of absence.
  • Process parish steward paperwork, for example timesheets resources sheets, vehicle defect logs HAVS monitoring.
  • Manage steward materials, plant and fleet.
  • Winter Maintenance and Emergency Call Out Operational or Supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Criteria

  • Competent to use both computers and Tablets.
  • Enthusiastic and team player
  • Flexible in terms of hours worked, attitude and tasks undertaken.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self management and adaptability.
  • Responsive to stakeholders.
  • Organisational awareness and information management.
  • Holds a current driving license.

Desired Criteria

  • CSCS
  • Highways experience.
  • Experience of dealing with public and have a courteous approach with colleagues and members of the public.
  • Traffic Management qualification
  • First Aid
